I gather the world in a sketchbook and bring it home as pattern and prose.

My designs begin in real places - the National Tallgrass Prairie, the Konza Prairie, a dark-sky gathering under the wide night in Valentine, Nebraska. Through impressions of experience and spirit, the grasses, the light, the textures and inhabitants of these landscapes become marks and words I carry home. And in turn, they become the repeats and palettes I build into surface patterns meant to live on fabric, paper, and the things people make and wear. The same noticing becomes essays, and the nature memoir I'm finishing now.

I come to this with a bachelor's in art, a master's in writing, time spent running an art gallery, and years as a freelance journalist. All of it has come together to shape a life lived where creativity and craft meet the work of making things real. I care as much about a collection's story as its color, as much about an honest sentence as a beautiful one.
